The objective of WUIWATCH (2015-2017) was to create a European Observatory for the prevention and defense against forest fires that affect urban areas and communities in the so-called urban-forest interfaces (WUI in English) in Europe, to constitute a permanent forum and a special interest group This project addressed the need for a common approach to the problem of forest fires in the WUI areas in Europe, as well as the adoption of common and appropriate measures, methods, protocols, regulations and tools among all stakeholders involved and interested in this type of civil protection emergency.
