Fire Weather Training

Description:

This course aims to create basic weather forecasts and translate this to a forecast into fire behaviour and development, as well as to better understand more specialised analyses of meteorological information for wildfires.

Objectives:

  • Understand fundamental meteorological concepts
  • Interpret and analyze weather data to make informed decisions about wildfire management
  • Understand factors that affect wildfire behavior, fuel responses to weather and fire patterns
  • Translate all the info to specific forecasts and advices before and during a fire
  • Methodology to identify meteorological patterns and how to link it to the type of fire and expected fire behavior
  • Identify conditions that create convective fire behavior
