This course is designed for fire service professionals, fire weather specialists, and fire behavior analysts who want to deepen their understanding of how environmental conditions influence wildfire behavior. The course focuses on understanding and interpreting weather-related information to support informed decision-making during wildfire situations.

Objectives:

  • Understand fundamental meteorological concepts.
  • Interpret and analyze weather data to make informed decisions about wildfire management.
  • Understand factors that affect wildfire behavior, fuel responses to weather and fire patterns.
  • Translate all the info to specific forecasts and advices before and during a fire.
  • Methodology to identify meteorological patterns and how to link it to the type of fire and expected fire behavior.
  • Identify conditions that create convective fire behavior.
