Article “Smouldering Combustion Dynamics of a Soil from a Pinus halepensis Mill. Forest. A Case Study of the Rocallaura Fairs in Northeastern Spain "de Xifré, Prat, Francos, Úbeda and Castellnou published in the magazine Applied Sciences This May 2020 has been a collaboration between Bombers of the Generalitat Pau Costa Foundation and GRAM (Mediterranean Environmental Research Group) of the Department of Geography of the University of Barcelona.
This type of investigation involving operational officers and investigation is important. The phenomenon of incandescent fires It is a fairly common occurrence in boreal forests, where after fires (natural or not) the soil with a high content of organic matter can be burning for months, making it very difficult to extinguish. With more temperate climates, organic horizons are initially thinner and less dense, and this phenomenon, which in English is called “Smoldering fires”, is rare.
Firefighters have found that in recent years the number of fires caused by resurgence of fires, supposedly already extinguished, have increased. This occurred in the municipality of Rocallaura the summer of 2016. A fire caused by a firecracker on June 23 that burned 103 hectares and was extinguished, had a revival on July 19, almost a month after the first ignition and burned a total of 790 ha.
This work shows that the content and structure of the accumulated organic matter allowed this type of incandescent fire, and causing a resurgence. This accumulation is frequent in forests that have not had any kind of management in many decades. In the forests of Rocallaura, the last fire took place in the late 30s, that is, more than 70 years accumulating organic material.
This study can be a good instrument to assess whether there may be revival fires in other parts of the territory and it should also be one more tool for firefighting teams when rethinking firefighting strategies and monitoring fire perimeters.

L'article “Smouldering Combustion Dynamics of a Soil from a Pinus halepensis Mill. Forest. A Case Study of the Rocallaura Fires in Northeastern Spain “de Xifré, Prat, Francos, Úbeda i Castellnou published to the Applied Sciences magazine that month of May 2020 there was a collaboration between Bombers de la Generalitat, La Fundació Pau Costa i el GRAM (Grup de Recerca Ambiental Mediterrània) of the Department of Geography of the University of Barcelona.
It is important that the types of investigation involving the agents operatius and the investigation. The phenomenon of incandescent focs is a fet força common to boreal forests, on the contrary of focs (naturals or not) the sòl amb great contingut de matèria orgànica pot est fins i tot mesos cremant, fent-ne molt difficult the seva extinction. Both climates are more temperats, the organic horitzons are mainly menys thick and dense men and those phenomena that in English are "Smouldering fires" are few frequencies.
The Bombers have verified that the last years the name d'incendis ocasats per revifalles d'incendis, supposadament ja apagats, s'han incrementat. Això is going to go to the municipality of Rocallaura l'estiu de 2016. A incendi causat per un petard on June 23 is going to cremate 103 hectares and is going to be extinguished, it is going to have a revifalla on July 19, which was a month after the first ignició i going to cremate a total of 790 ha.
Aquest treball demonstrates that the contingut and structure of the accumulated organic matter permeates that tipus of foc incasdescent, and provoking a revival. This accumulated frequent in forests that have not tingut cap tipus de gestió in moltes dècades. In the forests of Rocallaura, the last fire will take place at the end of the year 30, or more than 70 years after accumulating organic material.
This studied to be a good instrument to be able to assess whether pot haver-hi incendis de revifalla in altres llocs of the territory and it must also be one of the most extinct teams at the time of rethinking strategies of extinction and follow-up of perimeters d'incendis.
