Fabio Silva trabaja in Portugal, in the Special Force of Civil Protection, an organization integrated in the National Authority of Emergency and Civil Protection. Silva has Command functions at the national level. He currently coordinates the Fire Analysis and Use Group.
For Fábio the PCF is a training tool continues. It is up to date with the new projects that the Foundation undertakes, the information that is published in relation to the different actions focused on transmitting the basic pillars of the PCF, in relation to fire and forest fire prevention. In addition, it has been able to take advantage of several opportunities that highlight the importance of working together in the operational and research fields. One of these opportunities that he could benefit from was attending the final conference of ANYWHERE.
PCF: What does it mean for your profession to have participated in the final conference of ANYWHERE?
FS: Participate in the project ANYWHERE has been a good opportunity to learn about alert platforms, management and communication between agents and the population in emergency situations. This can be carried over to practice at work I do and in the civil protection in Portugal. I believe that this conference has been an important contribution to the development of national platforms with a very European vision.
PCF: How did the final conference develop?
FS: The content of the conference and the invited actors were correct. Entities from different countries attended and with a very varied experience. In general, this type of projects and conferences are fundamental to make networking and allow more enriching learning, even allowing developing entities to learn in certain areas much more efficiently.
Sharing experiences in a European context such as the one ANYWHERE fostered was key to bringing valuable learning to my profession. I am honestly very aware of the Opportunities offered by the PCF because they are becoming essential to grow professionally in my field.
