A week ago the Foundation was in the V Technical Conference on Forest Fire Prevention. Social perception en Toledo; and we have prepared a summary of what happened during the two days that lasted:
For the fifth consecutive year, the presentations were framed in an idyllic context, in the magical city of Toledo. The Conference began with the indisputable eminence of Ricardo Velez, which contributed an expert vision on the messages of prevention that is given to society. The room was very clear to us that the messages must neither be triumphalist nor alarmist.
Juan Pedro Garcia Alonso He was the next to take the witness with the objective of exposing the interaction, efficiency and quantification of forest fires and preventive work.
We are also happy with the provision of the City of Torrelodones by the hand of Santiago Fernandez, local government councilor and David Caballero, With and for your neighbors. His presentation is summarized with a phrase that the protagonists used; "Think Global and act locally."
Juan Carlos de Paz y Francisco Quinto from the Valencian Community and Medi XXI they explained to us how the population can be sensitized, especially in the urbanizations. However, they also stressed the lack of willingness of the neighbors to participate in them. It is here, when there was a fun moment with the contribution of David Caballero and his idea of the paella with the wood of the interface in the next prevention activity with the residents of the Valencian Community.
We continue with great encouragement for the contributions of the speakers and Rafael López del Rio The Government of Aragon gave us even more reasons to do so with their informative work to children about forest fires.
Our pilot project “Ramats de Foc” and the clear presentation of Emma Soy They were responsible for closing the first day of the conference. The participants were very happy with the circular idea, where we all participate. The added value that is given to the product, and that this is the one that can prevent forest fires is what was most commented among the attendees.
That same night we met the winners of the III International Forest Fire Award. Yago Angulo and Ana Belen Carballo in the Santa Fe de Toledo Convent, where a delicious Spanish Wine was tasted.
Ana Belén Carballo won the award for best Doctoral Thesis; “Thermal stress in personnel specializing in forest fire extinction, environmental variables and influence of the protective suit”

The second session of the day began with the intervention of Laura Quintana y Vicente Gonzalez, which deciphered us the actions related to transportation lines of Electric network
Miriam Arenas The UOC told us about the project they have carried out on the participation of children and young people in disaster risk reduction. He made the room understand the importance of considering them an active collective.
Jose Almodovar (DGECHO) contributed to give its vision of the European Institutions and how emergencies are perceived at European level. Here we could learn the real and internal functioning of the European Commission.
As for the psychological attention of the population affected by the Forest Fires, it was thoroughly explained by Maria Soledad Ponce y Victor Dominguez.
Finally, the Conference closed with the intervention of Antonio Maldonado which came from the Junta de Andalucía and showed us how to involve society in the prevention of forest fires. By last, Rafael Gálvez highlighted the importance of the information to carry out the good emergency management thanks to the device VOST.
