The democratization of decision-making and the corresponding implication of these conclusions are essential to determine the risk of a forest fire in the current climate emergency framework. A participatory study applied to the reservation of the Montseny biosphere indicates that your prevention and extinction system has to be reconfigured. Experts insist on the need for deeper changes in the set of decisions.
This study exposes a method to democratize forest fire decision-making and find out how a territory needs to be transformed to make it more resilient in a context of climate change. This method combines knowledge about the forest fire regime, participatory mapping of land values, multi-criteria prioritization and the development of a fire management strategy that protects priority areas. The proposed method has been carried out through a participatory process, where all the actors involved have been able to vote and / or give their point of view on the prioritization of values.
