Josep Serra i Tarragón - Tarragona (1970)
Fa 46 anys vaig néixer en una terra on els focs d'estiu eren quelcom viscut com a tragic i alhora intrigants.
During those years (80-90), the meva retina is going to be impregnated with a dark-gray color, llums blavoses al capvespre, incandescències llunyanes and columns of convective smoke that fill the cells of the meus estius.
Els hidros carregant al port, l'olor a fusta cremant, els acoustic notices of the descàrregues of retardant and homes Lluitant against the flames havien per la força, of deixar empremta in an infant and adolescent.
At that time, he had a look of art in the form of a drawing. I saw the world as in terms of morphology: tonalities, names, patterns, spectra, perspectives, iterations ... etc. I did not pass fish of a logical and coherent system.
Molt later, metge per fora, draw per dins, vaig to use the charcoal as the main technique of expressing the need of communication.
There is no suspicion that the charcoal that haunted the clear sketchbooks had a connection to the origin: El Foc.
It will be the viewing of the documentary on Channel 33 in 2015: “El Gran Silenci”, which would be the source of ignition of a latent fuel that threatens some root of the beer. Les colpidores first-person histories narrated by bombers to Horta de Sant Joan, is the starting point of a growing interest in the dynamics of forest fires that he had witnessed each year.
So I have drawn on this theme, the idea is to accelerate exponentially with the contact established with some of the protagonists of the documentary: Marc Castellnou, Oriol Vilalta and Pepe Pallàs
The best work will grow to measure that I will discover that the Fundació Pau Costa Alcubierre has a Fons d'Art (Art & Fire), and it will provoke in me a strange feeling of how if that project in marxa m'hagués esta Esperant des de la seva created.
The meva obsessed by the magical ancestral vision of the nocturnal fires will be patented in the multiple pastels, but they will also give them illustrations that will provide a cert sentit to communicate that there is more in the tristor that could induce a bosc cream. In addition to the formal beauty that jo hi trobava, it is worth saying that the intention was to show the hopefulness and vital continuity that our ecosystems have naturally disturbed by fire regimes.
Of course, sense that I found prodigies among the meves first igneous visions, the meus drawings and the fire of Horta in 2009, mai haguessin aflorat these products of creative combustion.
